MBA admission 2014: No GD and PI for MBA admission

Just after six new IIMs scrapped the GD round last month and replaced it with a written test, Maharashtra government is also removing group discussion (GD) and personal interview (PI) rounds for admission into B-schools in the state this year. MBA admissions will now be based on scores in MAH-CET or in any other national test.

The proposal for exempting Group discussion and Personal Interview was sent to Higher and Technical Education Ministry by the directorate of technical education in November 2103. Although the ministry is yet to approve the proposal officially, 'in-principle', it has been agreed upon.

Candidates were given admission on the basis of scores in national-level test CMAT, without GD/PI in 2013-14. After CMAT was introduced the vacant seats increased from 25% to 39%.

Earlier written exam (CET) weightage was 200, 40 marks for GD/PI ((17 each for GD and PI), and four and two for work experience and academic records, respectively).
